Winter tires are a necessity in Vancouver, but sometimes the cold weather can bring unexpected conditions that make driving a nightmare. For instance, when the temperature drops, iced roads turn into a hazard and can be extremely dangerous for your vehicle’s stability and safety.
Luckily, Toyo’s Observe G3-ICE tire, available at blackcircles Canada, is engineered to overcome this type of winter conditions with impressive ice and snow traction. The tire’s tread compound has Microbit technology, which uses crushed walnut shells to bite into ice surfaces for superior traction. The tires also have wide, deep grooves that efficiently clear water or slush from the contact patch, while hundreds of multidirectional sipes provide additional traction.
Toyo Observe G3-ICE Tire Review
When tested during a deluge of rain between Agassiz and Hope, the Toyo Observe G3-ICE performed exceptionally well. The tires’ high-grip silica compound managed to evacuate the standing water effectively so that the tire kept grip with the road surface and didn’t pack up or lose traction. This was a great accomplishment for the tires, especially considering they were driven at highway speeds on an all-wheel drive vehicle.
Overall, the Toyo Observe G3-ICE is a good winter tire that provides excellent traction on ice and superb acceleration, stopping, and cornering when compared to other tires in its class. The only drawback is the tires’ somewhat loud ride quality, but this can be mitigated by choosing a softer tire profile when buying this model.
