Home defense shotguns are simple, reliable and powerful. While many shooters will seek out a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, there are a number of smaller companies importing quality shotguns at base-model prices. One such company is TriStar. The Cobra Force is an affordable scattergun offering a number of unique features.

The most intriguing feature of the Cobra Force is found in the fore-end. After firing, the fore-end is pulled rearward, compressing a return spring that drives it forward and chambers a fresh shell. This provides the gun with an incredibly fast reload cycle, which is especially important when seconds count.

In addition to the quick reloading feature, the Cobra Force offers an ergonomically designed synthetic stock and forearm that are durable enough to stand up to abuse, and a rubber recoil pad to minimize felt recoil. There are also a number of Picatinny rails adorning the top of the receiver and the underside of the fore-end to accommodate accessories such as lights, lasers, red dot sights and more.

The Cobra Force comes chambered for 2 3/4-inch and 3 inch shells, and is equipped with a 20-inch cylinder bore barrel. It has a removable choke system that uses Beretta/Benelli threads and includes one choke tube (Cyl), a choke box, and a choke wrench. There is also a swivel stud on the fore-end to allow for a sling. After shooting 250 rounds of various ammunition including slugs and buckshot, the Cobra Force performed exceptionally well. There were no failures to fire, malfunctions, or jams, which is a testament to the design and build of this tactical scattergun.
