True TF9 Goalie Skate Review

For a long time now True has been one of the most popular skates for goalies in the NHL but for goalies that aren’t looking to pay for a custom model they have been missing a great option. With that being said they have finally released the true tf9, a well rounded stock skate. With heavy influence from their custom models the tf9 will offer a superior fit, and performance in a cost effective package.

The TF9’s feature True’s proprietary co-molded carbon fiber one-piece shell with FIBERSHIELD technology which allows the goalie to heat form the boot offering an extremely customizable fit in a stock skate. This helps to eliminate weak points around high impact areas and offers superior protection. The TF9 also features what True calls a “True Toe Cap” which absorbs puck impacts and keeps the foot in the best possible position for better response times.

As for comfort the TF9’s are equipped with an antimicrobial and moisture-wicking HydroFoam liner to keep your feet dry and comfortable while playing. They also feature a multi-density foam to provide superior comfort in the ankle, heel, and forefoot.

One of the things that I really like about these skates is that they have a heel lock and ankle wrap that rivals what Bauer has to offer in their pro level skates. However, they aren’t without their drawbacks. They are quite stiff and you’ll have a hard time getting them to break in. It is also annoying that you have to undo the top eyelets to get the skates on and off which takes away from the ease of use.
