The VIZIO E43U-D2 is an excellent 4K TV that is available for a very reasonable price. It delivers a crisp, bright image with excellent shadow detail and solid black levels. Its wide color gamut support makes it an excellent choice for HDR content. However, its IPS panel does not produce saturated colors.
Unlike the step-up M-series Vizio displays, which use 32-zone backlight dimming, this model's full-array LED/LCD panel uses 10 active LED zones to deliver superb contrast levels, rich shading, and piercing clarity. It also does not have the same local dimming performance seen in higher-end Vizio TVs like the E65-E1.
Like last year's model, this year's E-Series display has a fairly thick frame and stands on resilient corner feet. The frame is more smoothed out than last year's blocky design and looks better when wall mounted. The back has a textured finish and all ports are easily accessible when the display is tilted.
The SmartCast app allows users to quickly and easily access their favorite apps, channels, and movies and TV shows. It is easy to set up and use and supports voice control with Alexa, Google Assistant, and the Amazon Echo. The app can be updated to get the latest features and bug fixes. However, you must keep your internet connection working and the VIZIO app enabled to receive the updates. You can also download the VIZIO Remote App to take advantage of additional functionality.
