Vox AV30VT Review

Vox amps were at the forefront of the British Invasion of the sixties and are still loved today by guitarists from a variety of genres. The AC30 in particular is a real workhorse amp that can be used for beautiful clean tones, or overdriven sounds at gig level. Artists who have used a Vox AC30 include Wolf Alice, The Maccabees, Peace and Warpaint and many more. So if you are looking for an affordable guitar amp with the classic Vox tone, then the Vox AV-series could be just what you’re after.

The vox ad30vt is the successor to the older AD30VT and offers a couple of key changes. There are cosmetic differences, including the front panel Valvetronix logo and contrasting white chicken head knobs, but under the hood it’s a completely different beast. It has 22 selectable amp models and signature artist presets alongside an extensive selection of effects.

Unlike the more budget-friendly AC range, the AV-series has valve preamp and power amp stages. This means that while it’s not technically a “modelling” amp, it does have valve circuitry for the authentic sound of a Vox tube amp.

Besides the 22 model choices, the ad30vt has 11'song' presets that provide a good choice of familiar sounds for home practice or smaller gigs. The ad30vt also features a headphone socket with speaker simulation that allows you to play through headphones and hear the full, rich tone of the amp without disturbing your neighbours.
