Sometimes a connection on linkedin may share waaay too much information or just post way too often. If you want to keep the connection, but don’t want to see their content in your feed, muting is a great solution! In this article, I’ll show you how to mute someone on linkedin, as well as how to unmute them.

What is muting?

Muting is a social media feature that allows you to hide posts, updates, and stories from specific accounts or keywords without unfollowing them or blocking them. Unlike blocking, muting does not sever the connection and you can still communicate with that account by messaging them or visiting their profile. It’s a good option to manage your social media experience and to protect your mental health from unwanted or harmful content.

The mute feature is similar to the “snooze” or “hide” options on other platforms and apps. You can also mute accounts and their posts, comments, or DMs in LinkedIn’s Inbox by tapping the three dots in the top right corner while watching their story. You can mute their stories or mute the entire account based on your preference.

Muting a conversation will stop email notifications of new messages in the thread. However, you will continue to be able to access the conversation in All Mail. If you want to reactivate notifications, you can do so by tapping the conversation again. It will not notify the person that you have muted them.
