What is att next up?

AT&T Next Up is a program that allows you to upgrade to a new phone earlier than usual. It costs $6 per month on top of your monthly AT&T wireless and installment plan and allows you to do so once your current device is paid off to at least 50%. You can then return your current device (it must be in pristine and fully functional condition) to AT&T and purchase a new one at the normal installment rate with all unbilled installments waived on the new device.

AT&T also offers other phone financing options, such as AT&T Next Every Year and AT&T Next 30, that allow you to either pay off your device over 30 months or upgrade to a new one every two years and once a year respectively. However, if you're serious about getting the latest phones as often as possible, then Next Up is the best option.

Note that if you remove the AT&T Next Up upgrade feature, you won't be eligible to upgrade your devices early anymore. You also won't be able to add it back to your installment plan, so make sure you really want to remove it. You can do so by logging into myATT and going to See my bill under Account Overview and selecting Manage your installment plan from the Billing & payment options menu (you may have to scroll). Select Learn about or cancel AT&T Next Up and follow the prompts.
