Unlike other families we've seen this season, the Addams clan is doing pretty well. Despite Wednesday's issues with her mother, Morticia, and Gomez's incarceration on murder charges, this is a family that cares about one another. They're kooky, they're weird, and they love each other in their own special way.
The parents even sit down for a family therapy session while Gomez and Garrett are in jail. It's not the usual "mom and daughter talk through their problems" type of thing, but a genuinely heartfelt and honest discussion about how Wednesday feels like she doesn't belong at school, how much she misses Eugene, and her deep-seated fear that she will get stabbed to death by some maniac with a vial of nightshade in his pocket.
That's some excellent work from Jenna Ortega and Tyler Christie, both of whom deserve a ton of credit for how they handle these intense emotions. And when Wednesday threatens to tell Sheriff Galpin about her dad, it's a great reminder that, while it might not be the perfect relationship, this is a family who's there for one another through thick and thin.
What Is Popery?
Potpourri is a mixture of dried, fragrant plant materials used for decorative purposes, often in homes. It can also be a form of aromatherapy, where the scent of the plants is used to improve or maintain health. It can be a natural or synthetic substance, and is usually stored in containers for preservation.
