What Time Does the Royal Rumble Start?

The Royal Rumble is WWE’s most recognizable premium live event of the year. It is the official kickoff to WrestleMania, and features two 30-Superstar matches that are impossible to predict. While other gimmick matches may come and go, the Rumble remains a staple of WWE’s brand.

The match’s premise is simple: 30 Superstars enter the ring at timed intervals, and each one has 90 seconds to exit the ring before they are eliminated. The last person to leave the ring earns a championship match at WrestleMania. The rumble is known for its non-stop action and dramatic story developments.

It’s also a unique format that makes it unlike any other match in the WWE. To be considered “eliminated,” a wrestler must leave the ring over the top rope and have both feet touch the floor of the arena (although going out between the second and third rope is not a valid method of elimination, as demonstrated by X-Pac in 2000).

This year’s Royal Rumble starts at 8pm ET on January 28 at the Alamodome and streams live on Peacock for fans in the US and on WWE Network outside of the country. Besides the Rumble matches, this show will feature two major title matches with Roman Reigns defending his undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens and Bianca Belair putting her Raw Women’s Championship on the line against Alexa Bliss. It will also feature a special Mountain Dew Pitch Black match between Bray Wyatt and LA Knight.
