Regardless of the type of laptop model or operating system, all computers require a means to power them on. Some models, like newer Asus laptops, feature a power button that’s cleverly integrated into the hinge area or along the edge of the device, making it easily accessible even when the lid is closed. Other Asus laptops may not have a dedicated power button at all but instead rely on a combination of key presses, touchscreen gestures, or biometric recognition sensors.

Thankfully, many of these methods are easier than you might think. Nevertheless, before performing any of these procedures, it is crucial to ensure that your Asus laptop is completely shut down and unplugged from any external sources of power.

Locating the Power Button

In most cases, you’ll find the power button nestled along the top row of your keyboard and labeled with a symbol resembling a circle with a vertical line inside. However, if your power button appears to be faulty and is refusing to turn on your laptop, it might be time to perform a few basic maintenance steps.

Start by using a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the power button and its surrounding surface. Be sure to avoid excessive moisture as this could potentially damage your Asus laptop. Then, press and hold the power button for approximately 10 to 15 seconds. Continue to do so until you observe initial signs of activation, such as the display illuminating and the sound of fans whirring.
