In the not-so-distant future, boxing has gone high-tech — and the stakes are sky-high. Hugh Jackman stars as Charlie Kenton, a former prize fighter who lost his chance at the top when heavy, towering robots replaced humans in the ring. Now a washed-up promoter, Charlie is struggling to make ends meet when he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship robot for one last shot at redemption.
Real Steel is a science-fiction film with enough heart to be entertaining to all ages. The movie doesn't break any new cinematic ground but it does add another layer to the fight film genre and it is a good movie to watch especially if you are an Hugh Jackman fan or a fan of underdog fighting movies. The movie is like a combination of Over the Top which has father-son and family drama and Rocky because it's boxing with a little bit of RoboCop thrown in there as well.
