After losing their son to a sudden, unexplained death, Cameron Boyce's parents, Victor and Libby, took action and started the Cameron Boyce Foundation to help other children with epilepsy. Now, Karan Brar, who starred with the late actor on Disney's Jessie and has his own show, The Empty Inside, is opening up about his friend's passing and what the experience has taught him.

In a new episode of her podcast, The Squeeze, Brar opens up about his friendship with Cameron and what the loss has meant for him. "It's been really hard," he says. "I think he was one of the brightest lights that I've ever known, and to see that go out so quickly is hard."

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed that Cameron died of SUDEP, or Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. The 20-year-old was found unresponsive at his home on July 6 and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been diagnosed with the condition in 2017.

Cameron rose to fame on Disney Channel's Shake It Up and gained a starring role on Jessie, playing Luke Ross for four years. He later played the character Carlos in Descendants, a film series that saw him play the son of some of Disney's most famous villains alongside fellow teen stars Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart. He was set to appear in a third film in the franchise before his death. His parents are now using their tragedy to raise awareness about SUDEP, which affects up to 30% of people with epilepsy.
