Derek Muller is a well-known Canadian-Australian inventor, television personality, filmmaker, science communicator, and YouTuber who is known for his channel Veritasium. He has also appeared as a correspondent on the Netflix series Bill Nye Saves the World. He is 39 years old and was born on November 9, 1982 in Traralgon, Victoria, Australia. He studied at Queen's University and continued his studies at the University of Sydney.

In 2011, he started his own YouTube channel, which has over 8.5 million subscribers. His videos cover a variety of topics, including scientific experiments and cinematography. He has also partnered with other popular science YouTubers, such as Vsauce, Minute Physics, and Science Girl.
