Who is Maroon About?

Maroon is one of the new songs found on Taylor Swift’s 2023 album Midnights. The song was produced and written by her long-time collaborator Jack Antonoff. It is a track with trap beats and an overall dream pop sound. Some music critics loved the production, while others found it too sappy for their liking.

Some fans believe this song is about her ex Harry Styles. They think this is because of a line in the chorus that talks about rust growing between her and him. This could be a reference to the long-distance nature of their relationship. Plus, there are lines in the song about rubies, which can also be a reference to him.

There are other theories as well. One is that the song is about her other ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. It is possible because of a line in the song that says, “Loving him was like a deep red, / And losing him was a dark gray.” There are also lines that say, “When you were gone / I saw a color burn into my brain,” which could be about him as well.

Other speculations include John Mayer, because of their short-lived romance in 2009. They also wrote a duet together and he has synesthesia, meaning that he sees music as colors. There is no evidence, however, that either of these are the case. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
