A prolific writer, comedian, TV personality, voice actor, and music blogger, The Kid Mero is a name that is well-known by many people. He has been able to build a large following on social media platforms and this is what has helped him get where he is now. However, what not many people know about him is his personal life. He is married to his wife Heather Martinez and the couple has four children together.
The Kid Mero’s real name is Joel Armogasto Martinez. He was born in New York City and is of Dominican descent. He was raised in various neighborhoods including Tremont, Throggs Neck, Kingsbridge, and Mount Eden and is fluent in Spanish. He went to DeWitt Clinton High School and later enrolled at Bronx Community College. He was originally planning on a career as a science teacher and even worked as a teaching aide for a while after graduating.
However, he realized that comedy was his calling and began to pursue it full-time. He initially started doing stand-up and soon moved on to a podcast with fellow Bronx native Desus Nice. The podcast called Desus vs Mero gained immense popularity and eventually led to the duo joining the cast of MTV2’s Guy Code and Joking Off. The pair also hosts the show, Desus & Mero on Showtime.
Besides the aforementioned shows, The Kid Mero has also done work with several other big names in the industry. He has had the opportunity to work with such popular celebrities as LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, and MC Hammer. He is also a part of the WWE family and has had the chance to wrestle at Wrestlemania, which he says is the pinnacle of all wrestling events.
