There have been rumblings of Spotify adding Karaoke mode for quite some time now, but it’s taken until now for the feature to actually be available. It’s still in its early days but there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to enjoy it as long as your device meets the minimum requirements.
The first thing to check is that you have the latest version of the app, which isn’t a big deal since Spotify will automatically update your app to get new features as they are released. The other issue could be that you aren’t in an eligible region for the new karaoke mode, as it is being rolled out to users country by country.
If you’re unsure whether your device meets the minimum requirements, or are curious to see what the feature is like, you can visit Spotify’s Karaoke page here. It shows a sample song and how the app works. It’s worth noting that the audio analysis part of the karaoke isn’t yet working properly, but that should be fixed shortly.
If you’re already up to date on the app and are in an eligible region, the best way to try out Spotify Karaoke is to select a song and then click the lyrics button, which will reveal a'sing' option that you can hit when the song is playing. It will then remove the singer’s voice and leave the instrumentals behind for you to sing along with, and then give you a score at the end of the song on your musical accuracy.
