Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney- Dual Destinies is a brilliant masterpiece and is without a doubt the best in the series. It is a beautiful blend of excellent storytelling, amazing characters, and engaging gameplay that will keep you hooked from start to finish. It’s a must have for any fan of the series. However, the game is a little darker than most of its predecessors and has been rated m for mature in North America. This is largely due to some pretty creepy moments. The most disturbing moment is probably the phantom’s appearance, especially when he is talking about being a murderer and how he feels nothing. The way that his eyes just bug out and the fact that he looks like Phoenix makes it very unsettling. Then you have the other scenes where characters talk about their dead loved ones and about being abused or raped. These are pretty disturbing scenes that will give the game a dark feel that is a departure from other games in the series.
Another reason why the game is rated m is that it deals with a lot of adult situations. For example, the game features a case where Maya is accused of killing her mother. She isn’t actually guilty of doing this, but the phantom in question, Edgeworth, is trying to frame her for the crime and make it look like she did it.
This is probably the main reason why the game was rated m. The other reasons are probably related to the story and some of the content in it. For example, it contains violence, blood, suggestive themes and language, which is a departure from previous games in the series that were rated T for teen.
