Remarkable is an e Ink based writing slate that excels at note taking. It has two generations of hardware and premium accessories. Traditionally, these types of devices are relatively inexpensive for customers and generate the majority of revenue when you sell a customer the hardware with the occasional replacement nib or accessory. However, Remarkable has taken a risk and experimented with subscription based revenue.
Remarkable announced their first paid tier of membership in 2021, called Connect Lite. This cost is $4.99 a month for unlimited Remarkable cloud storage and a few basic features. They also have a higher tier of subscription called Connect which includes handwriting conversion and more features.
The Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo is the best pen for remarkable that’s compatible with both tiers of their subscription plan. It is available on Amazon and is fairly cheap. However, it’s often out of stock. If you want a budget alternative to this stylus that still works with both tiers of remarkable’s subscription plan, I recommend the Kindle Scribe basic pen which is around the same price and always in stock. This pen has magnetic capability and a button eraser. It’s also compatible with the Staedtler Noris Digital Classic and all other Remarkable pens.
